Last week Tuesday, the residents of the Village of Hempstead elected Don Ryan to be their new Mayor. Although, I have had my differences with Mr. Ryan in the past, we both share a common goal – which is to make the Village the best place to live. I have no doubt that Mr. Ryan loves the Village of Hempstead and will do everything in his power to benefit the people who live and work in the Village. I wish Don Ryan nothing but the best.
For my part, I will do everything I can to ensure a peaceful and efficient transition of power. The residents of the Village deserve nothing less. To Mayor-Elect Don Ryan: I promise to work with you, and the Village’s two new trustees and help in any and all ways I can.
To the residents of the Village of Hempstead: I say thank you. Being your Mayor for the past 12 years has been, outside of my family, the greatest pleasure and success of my life. Having the opportunity to represent this Village and become involved in so many people’s lives, especially the young men and women who I have been incredibly proud to work with through many initiatives. I will remain forever indebted to the residents of the Village who gave me the opportunity to serve as their Mayor these past 12 years. You are the reason my administration and I were able to accomplish so much over the years. I will look back to this period of my life with great pride. I would also like to thank Deputy Mayor, Luis Figueroa, Trustee Hobbs and Trustee Pettus for their hard work and commitment to the Village during my term as Mayor. I would also like to give my sincere appreciation to the many staff members of my administration.
I will continue to be an active member of the community that I love. This is not goodbye. This is the start of a new chapter. I cannot wait to see what the future holds. May God bless you.
Wayne J. Hall Sr.
Mayor of the Incorporated Village of Hempstead
