Job Title:  VISTA Community Engagement Specialist (VISTA CES)

The VISTA Community Engagement Specialist (VISTA CES) will build capacity for the initiative and the community to help bring individuals and communities out of poverty. (S)he will develop a framework that expands the scale and reach of the initiative to encourage residents to participate in listening sessions, focus groups, public surveys (online and paper) and information forums. The VISTA CES will provide assistance in the preparation of needs assessments, develop community assessment tools, help develop workforce development programs, progress reports, manage information culled from the Task Force, workgroups, community stakeholders and guide data collection and interpret data.

Job Title:  AMERICORP ESPRI Representative

Member Duties : Work with the Village of Hempstead Poverty Reduction Task Force to identify the needs of low income community members and implement strategies and services to address those needs; assist in a community needs assessment including data gathering, assisting with focus groups and engaging the low income community in this initiative; conduct public information and education on the needs of the low income residents and the role of the task force; develop and maintain social media for informing people about poverty reduction initiative and available services; recruit and train community volunteers to participate in poverty reduction initiatives; create systems for measuring outcomes of projects; mobilize resources for support of the project.
