Accounting

The operation of the Finance Department encompasses all areas of the Village’s financial operations. The department provides all general accounting and bookkeeping functions for all financial transactions of the Village. These functions include purchasing all material, supplies and outside services for all Village departments. accounts payable, and the preparation, management and cost allocations of the payroll of approximately 380 full-time employees distributed among thirty departments.

The preparation of five different operating fund budgets, totaling over $65 million, and the preparation of a five year capital plan along with the management of these budgets are also part of the responsibilities of the department. The Finance Department also is responsible for management of cash and investments, debt issuance and servicing, employee benefits and self-insurance claims management. Computer operations are also included in the responsibilities of the Treasurer, who is the person responsible for the operations of the Finance Department.
