Collection Guidelines
Garbage and rubbish must be placed in standard type containers, NOT EXCEEDING 32 GALLONS with handles and a tight-fitting cover. The TOTAL WEIGHT MUST NOT EXCEED 75 LBS. Plastic bags may be used; however, bags must be tied and not over-filled to prevent spillage. All refuse placed for pickup must be accessible to Sanitation employees.
Must be broken up and securely tied. Do not place yard waste or loose garbage in cartons or paper bags.
To prevent injury to employees, glass must be placed in solid containers. DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS when disposing of glass.
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE OR EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS Shall not be placed in containers for regular collection, but shall be disposed of as prescribed by the Fire Marshall, 566-6200.
There will be a large receptacle at the Sanitation Department where you may deposit your container of used motor, transmission and gear oil. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 8:00am - 2:00pm. Proof of residency is required.
Must be placed at the curb on your recycling day for pickup. Yard debris consists of grass clippings, leaves, shrubs. Tree trimmings, hedge clippings, and similar materials must be cut to a length not exceeding four feet long and two feet wide, in securely tied bundles. Please keep yard waste separate from garbage. Note: Any thorn-bearing bushes must be tied and wrapped to avoid injury to Sanitation employees.
Items such as Stoves, rugs, washers, dryers, bed springs, tables, chairs, cabinets, doors, windows, air conditioners, heaters, bikes, snow blowers, lawn mowers, sofas, refrigerators (with the doors removed), sofa beds (tied so they do not open), paint cans. Before placing items at the curb, call the Sanitation Department for a pickup date 489-3400x268 or 288.
Earth, sod, sand, dirt, stone, concrete, construction debris, automobile parts of any nature, materials deemed hazardous, toxic or flammable, 55-gallon drums, and oil or fuel tanks.
