Police Department
The Hempstead Police Department, under the Command of Chief Joseph B.
Wing, Assistant Chief Willie Dixon and Deputy Chief Michael McGowan, consists of 120 sworn police officers patrolling the streets of the Village. The department is divided in to five main branches: Patrol Division, Investigations Unit, Juvenile Aid Bureau, Traffic and Safety Bureau, and Community Oriented Police Services Unit, each providing a unique service.
