Mayor's Office
The mayor is elected to serve as chief executive officer of the Hempstead Village government. He or she presides at all village board meetings, directing the legislative and administrative duties of that body. The mayor also oversees the daily operations of a municipal government of 35 major departments with 500 employees, who provide services to over 50,000 residents. The mayor is also responsible for drafting and implementing an annual budget of $49 million and supervises a village police force of more than 100 officers.
