Welcome to the Village of Hempstead’s Business Directory. With over 60,000 residents, a diverse mix of individuals makes Hempstead a thriving, vibrant hub of activity.
Comprising almost 4 square miles, the Village of Hempstead is larger than many cities in the country and is the largest village in New York State.
There are many worthwhile service organizations that make a positive contribution to life in Hempstead Village. These groups are comprised primarily of residents who dedicate their valuable time to make Hempstead a better place in which to live and work. These community minded organizations play a major role in Hempstead, offering a wide array of social programs and services for the benefit of our citizens.
With over 60,000 residents, Hempstead Village functions more like a city. We provide a broad range of municipal services to our residents, including it’s own Police Department, which has been largely responsible for cutting major crime in half, as well as an award-winning Volunteer Fire Department. Hempstead has it’s own Village Court, Water Plant and Department, Sanitation and Recycling Departments, Public Works and Building Departments.
